Description
Interactive lesson recommended for Grades 9 through 12 STEM classrooms. Students learn about different repair strategies for fixing broken bones, including external fixation, or "ex-fix".
Orthopaedics In Action is a unique, hands-on curriculum for middle and high school STEM classrooms that features real-world challenges from orthopaedic surgery and biomedical engineering.
They use engineering principles to design two different ex-fix repair configurations and compare the strength of their designs in a biomechanics experiment. This lesson applies concepts of forces and motion, engineering design, and hypothesis testing.
